Is it just Chicago or is The super star in sports gone?
Yesterday as I wrote my Cubs blog Cubs Blog which you can find here. I started to form a second opinion Which I don't know if it's just a Chicago thing. Heavily is cuz we suck so bad. But is it me or does it feel like the sports superstar is gone? There could be a few reasons for this. Chicago sports are so bad that no one playing simply put. Is Good. Maybe cuz I'm the same age as these guys or even older then a few. I'm a little pissed, that I'll never make as much money as they do, they are in way better shape. Also it simply it pisses me off that they are playing a sport for a living which they suck at but still make millions. I'm no longer a kid and don't look up to these guys anymore. Cuz I know I'll never play the sport like them.
Maybe social media or streaming killed it? Like social media lets you see to much of them. Celebrities they are just like us. But maybe that makes them look to much of just a regular guy. Just they can lift heavy and throw a ball far. We have to much access to them where they almost get to annoying since we let them get shoved to much in our face. Back in the day you see the guy in the paper or just on TV while playing maybe hear something about him. But think about it The Blackhawk Limo pictures where leaked out and seemed like a scandalous thing.
Now looking back its just couple shirtless dudes and some woman hanging out. This day and age the pics wouldn't be leaked they be posted on their story and be out of the news media by tomorrow.
But I don’t think one Chicago pro athlete from a modern team could walk into a bar and not have to pay for a drink. Like if PCA walked into a bar I'm not buying him a drink I'm thinking get bend when I see that guy and that's not just because he is a cub either. No mystic or aura around the guy. Grant it I think athletes are to cookie cutter these days. They take it more serious which is understandable its a million dollar business these days. But come on a little flair attitude and craziness never hurt as long as you win I guess.
