College Hoops 1.5

This is a 1.5 blog, for college hoops. I needed to do a "sideline reporter" type of a paper. So this is what a new article would look like and is no where near my DePaul experience. Since I was all business this day taking notes and trying to get a good grade on my paper. 36/50. Resubmitted the assignment because like a dummy  I turned in my notes from the game, and the rough draft. Which is understandable of why I did that it was go to the game, report/notes , go home and crank out a grade A[B is good enough] assignment and not finish till like 2 in the morning. was tired and and clicked the wrong document. Well anyways hers my 1.5 non party going wild at the game experience. Next season hopefully we are going into College experience  2 or 3.

Sport Communication Paper: SENIOR NIGHT BASKETBALL
Cougars bid Farwell to their seniors in a 90-65 win.

The story line for Saint Xavier Basketball going into Wednesday’s February 19th   last Home game of the 2019-20 season, was the Cougars where 18-9 over all and in conference 13-7. While their opponents Saint Francis was 10-17 over and in conference 8-13.  In addition, it is not only senior night for 4 players but also head coach Tom O’ Malley in his 23rd season is retiring currently with a record of 507 wins and 230 loses. [as of 2/17/20]

Onto the game
Its senior and Coach O’Malley’s night. O’Malley is going into the night with 999 career coaching wins and Saint Francis is looking to not be 1,000 and ruin a very special night. Saint Xavier Cougars must of got word of that and decided that tonight was not the tonight for an upset. In the last home game of Saint Xavier’s 50th season of basketball

So the Cougars win the face off don’t score let Saint Francis draw first blood. And they would hold on to early jump and lead the game for the next 5 min and 25 secs. With a score of 11-10 After that it was all cougars, the game changed tones when Jack Brody [20] decided to give out his first invitations to the block party. Then there was a little bit of a hot streak cougars in 2 minutes 7 score. Before Saint Francis decided to respond. With one to make it 19-12. Then there was a lot of back and forth. The one player from Saint Francis who didn’t score till late in the game was Eric Ting who was from Taiwan. He was coastally driving to the hole, moving the ball , good defense went 1-6 in FGM-A but those 24 minutes played, he was no slacker. With some more game play The cougars attempted a full court shot going into the half with a score of 47-32.

And at half time Coach Tom O’Malley was honored for being the most winningest coach in Saint Xavier basketball history. After 23 years put him in the rafters all ready.

Back to the game like it was stated it was all cougars they came out a little slow, and they knew it they turned on the jets and built off the lead from the 1st half. The highest the lead got at one point was 26 points. Saint Franics getting alittle desperate decided to pull out the full court press with 12:58 on clock., they tried playing a faster pace game but by then it was too late.  They even tried slowing down the game by committing fouls but the Cougars decided to make it a free throw practice. The 2nd half was not as exciting with the cougars pulling away so fast.

It wasn’t till the cougars coaching staff gave all the seniors one last standing ovation. They did this by subbing them off one by one, instead of putting the next legacy of cougar’s players in all at once. They did this when there were less then 50 secs on the clock.
And Saints coach took a time out with 38 secs left on the clock not to talk to his team but to congratulate coach tom waving him over to center court. The fighting saints coach waved his hands in the air to conduct the largest cougar fan crowd of the season. The crowd gave Coach O’ Malley one last cheer and standing ovation for his dedication to the game. Saint Xavier Won last night 90-69. It is a a closing of a chapter in this school’s history. Period but we might not be done just yet.
Looking a head

With one game left in the regular season Saint Xavier University now 19-9 overall,14-7 in conference. Faces Indiana University in South Bend IN. Who is ranked one seed above SXU at a 3 spot in the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference [Division II]. Indiana University’s record is this season is 21-8, overall, and 15-6, in conference. To add more fuel, they will be waiting for the cougars coming off an 87-69 win and a week’s rest.  It’s the last game of the season, Division opponent, some implications on the 29th Annual DII Men’s Basketball National Championship. If you’re going to make a run for a title, I think this is the way you want it to happen. Does it get any better than this?

That game will be on 2/22/20 with at 2’oclock CT tipoff

To my current knowledge it looks like The Saint Xavier Cougars are fighting for their tournament life’s. Or at least better seeding in the tournament. Currently they are sitting at number 4 seed in their division. If I am reading the schedules correctly and to the minimal knowledge that I have pieced together. It Looks like there is a Tournament to get into the Tournament. What I mean by that there is a Chicagoland Colligate Athletic Conference tournament and if you win in that you go on to play in 29th Annual DII Men’s Basketball National Championship which is taking place in Sioux Falls S.D. Good Luck Cougars in the up coming weeks.

one minute speech

Its senior and Coach O’Malley’s night. O’Malley is going into the night with 999 career coaching wins and Saint Francis is looking to not be 1,000 and ruin a very special night. Saint Xavier Cougars must of got word of that and decided that tonight was not the tonight for an upset. In the last home game of Saint Xavier’s 50th season of basketball

Cougars win the tip off don’t score saints decide to make the socre 11-10 before jack brody desiced to give out his 1st invite to the block party. After that it was all cougars They dominated play with the higest lead of the first half getting as high as 17 points. Know how they got that lead with a three, a field goal and a kind of behind the back side ways facing lay up by number 10.

Going in to half time the cougars wehre up 47-32, Coach Omally was honored for his 23 years dedicated to saint Xavier put his name in the rafters all ready.

Now onto the second half all cougars they build off that big lead that they took into half by making it peak at 26 points. No matter what the Fighting saints did from a full court press, picking up their game tempo even fouling to slow down the game it did not work. Another behing the back layup from 10, a 3 frpm 21 and a failed alley oop and the last scoeing play by the cougars was a layup by 44 waller. But quin schiner of the saints wanted to put up one more 3 to end the game cougars 90 the fightless saints 69.
