The Work Chronicles: Part 3: Failing Up Ward

What does everyone have in common and like to complain about? Their Jobs. I'm no different I work to hard and don't get paid enough. This is the Work Chronicles. So just like everyone else in America chances are they are working a shitty part time or shitty job and not making enough money.  Hell even the key phrase of I work to hard and don;t get paid enough had to come from some where.

But this chronicle is about the time I failed up word and got paid more. So I was probably maybe 1 top 2 months at my meat wrapping job. They never said pay rate till interview was desperate for work and money so I took it, $11 dollars an hour. I don't work in Chicago I work in a " suburb" of Chicago aka one of those Suburbs that interlock with the edge of the city. You know what I'm talking about one of those suburbs where if you drive down the street your in Chicago for a block by the end you're in the Suburb , 4 more blocks back in the city. I'm in that 4 block making $11. My first job I was making 10 an hour moved up and was making 15 in 2019. so what a major set back from 2019-2021 going back to $11. And you know I busted my ass working hard while i wasn't being paid enough. When it was maybe early or mid august school was around the corner my manager was telling me and the other guys who are still in school Text him our class schedule so I also texted him hey can you mostly give me more work days because I found another Job that I want to work on the weekends because this 11 dollars is nothing and ain't gonna cut it. This was all in text and I was like well probably talk when I get in. And we did he didn't fully read the text he said and I am under the impression he thought that I was going to leave because he was all like " I don't want you to leave I want to keep you around your a good worker so far I'm going to ask the store manger if he can max out your pay rate at $13.25 you wont be able to get a raise if you stay here a year but you'll be making more money. Well do the paper work to get it done since you aren't typically supposed to be able to get a raise before at least 90 days in unless we do this paper work." So thats how I failed up ward was just asking for days during the week to work two jobs. Which I still did but less shifts, at the 2nd job but still worked out. Grant it its going to be a year soon and I won't get a raise and I'm not 100% sure if I ever got that back pay. But hey thats how I failed up ward instead of my usual just failing.
