Paul Konerko Happy[belated] Birthday
Pauleee's birthday was yesterday the man, the hero, the legend turned 44.
The greatest Sox of all time, do a crew one will make an argument that its better .But Paul Konerko is my favorite Sox, baseball, and possible athlete of all time that I've watched. I knew it was his birthday but things came up where I was not able blog it.But Paul Konerko is my guy. He represents the city and his organization exactly like he was. Looked over, was quiet ,got the job done, and a winner. Paul Konerko played 15 years with the white sox but played 18 years in the MLB. He is number two with 432 home runs as a sox leader only guy in front is frank thomas. Has only hit 8th triples in his 18 years of play. Was a criminal went 1,350 straight games before he caught stealing. In that time he only stole 5 bases. and Konerko hit the same number of home runs (259) at Guaranteed Rate Field as Babe Ruth hit at Yankee Stadium.
My memories of Paul Konerko are the Sox down or tied late in the game. UP next Paul Konerko. whole stadium was on their feet the old score board in left field with the PAUL gear goes over changes it to EEE and everyone is yelling PAULEEE PAULEEE. Then a hit single double didn't matter because it was an RBI walk off hit que the fireworks Sweet Home Chicago playing. SOX WIN SOX Win. Im a smaller guy at the time so I'm either engulfed in people or standing on a cheer going nuts. I wish there was a way for everyone to experience it. But that's my memory that will always last with me.
MY BLOGS JUST CHANGED FOR EVER I JUST LEARNED HOW TO INSERT VIDEOS.
Game 2 of the 05 world series and he decided to hit a grand slam and have one of the most iconic moments in Sox history.
Me and Paul Konerko retired around the same time. Him on his own and my being told to by not making the team. But I remember going to his 2nd to last home game he had three strike outs. I also went 0-3 in the champion ship game too being the last at bat that ended the game[ thats another story for later] Also attended his number retiring and statue reveling, and I look at the replica miniature statue every day. Both wore number 14 when playing for the sox and played 1st base. My best sox jersey which I wear rarely since its my Sunday best in jerseys is a red pin stripe Paul konerko jersey. PK thank you and your my favorite. Baseball hasn't been the same since you left the SoutSide.
