Greg Olson back to DA Bears?

Last night it was reported that the panthers and Greg Olson will be parting ways. Greg Olson use to  play for the Chicago Bears back in my early infancy of my bears fandom. He was drafted 31st in 2007 and signed a 5 year contract right away. Which he only played 4 years of, the reason being the bears decided to deal him away for a third round draft pick, new coach new system same old garbage that gets rid of a good player.

Im not saying we should do it but he does look good in a Bears uniform and probably can and could play better then the "TE's" that we have on the roster. The Bears are lacking in the tight end position. In my opinion of power ranking of Bears tight ends right now are:

  1.  Jesper Horsted- 22, can develop, Princeton, good build
  2. Ben Braunecker- Harvard, another development guy
  3. JP Hotlz- good at blocking we brought him in to be a TE FB because we thought it was good to get rid of our FB
  4.  Bradley Sowell-  little bias big man touchdown[Santa sleigh] didn't real play should put the muscle and go back to OL.
  5. Eric Saubert-  signed late November, not a whole lot of playing time, Chicago guy knows what the team is about working class guy
  6. Trey Burton- always hurt, letting us down.
  7. Adam Shaheen- this play.  makes him 7. Grant it I don't know if the game would of been won if we recovered this kick, but after the playoff lost I really wanted to stick it to the eagles.
This list is very bias and unfairly done more of feeling, heart over stats and actual facts. I'm a passionate guy so sue me.

See looking back at this trade I think it was very dumb and to be honest I wasn't as involved of a bears fan as I am now. So I just really heard he was on the team but did not know what he did. Looking at his numbers He wasn't exactly amazing but he wasn't no shlub he was a pretty good player. That if you developed and stuck with probably good of been great. Now that he was with the panthers it seems like every week he does something great. just look at his numbers.

Not the worlds greatest numbers but with the players around him he did not have to be 1,000 yard threat that he is today. He could of and should of been just an option that got the job done. Does not have to be THE guy just one of the guys.

realistically I don't think the bears will bring him back or they shouldn't. Not saying he is or wont have a major drop of in his production but when you're trying to build for the future, we shouldn't go back with older players to try and move forward. He is starting to get a little injury prone as he is 34 going into his 14th year in the league.  Also even do there has been more turn over Greg Olson might be upset that the bears cut him the first time and didn't honor and go through in a 5 year contract.[ Scroll down I was wrong actually]

I can see him going to the patriots who don't have a tight end he trying to go to a competitive super bowl bound team patriots are always in contention and do not have a TE at the moment. I am not saying the bears are competitive or Super Bowl bound because they are but, the super bowl longevity only last if the players do.

PS on a side note is it me or does Greg Olson Look Like a fictional Chicago Icon Frank Gallagher
I don't know why but this screen shot makes Greg Olson looks like fictional Chicago icon Frank Gallagher

like looking in a mirror even has his eye black o

PPS maybe its just a Chicago bears thing to let tight ends go early we did the same thing with Mike Ditka

Update on Wed. 2/5/2020
NEW Information [PPPS] Greg Olsen hoped the Bears would call when he became a free agent.

“I’ll be honest, in my heart, I was hoping they would have been one of the first calls,” Olsen said. “To my knowledge, we have not heard from them. Whether or not they do or not is hard to say.”

Maybe the Bears should give him a call why not.
