Super Fan Rules: Glove
While in the mist of October baseball play off run. It's time to ask the age old question, how old is to old to bring a glove to a baseball game. This is a hard one that makes you think. The main argument is that you got a foul ball peaking then dropping directly at you at lets say roughly 45-65 miles an hour, its probably best to have an advantage in protection. Having the one thing that they use to stop these balls from flying at you is probably the best thing you can have. But we have to admit its kinda dorky to have. Sure its cute when you're a bright eye little kid wearing a cap thats way to big and jersey your aunt gave you that you'll grow into. Or its nice to be a kid still in little league glove in hand thinking wow one day I can replace todd frazier at 3rd base and be a White Sox. Or its nice to have as a high schooler so you have the extra hand to carry your nachos with.
But everntuylly once you go to college and start to go to games on your own its a little dorky you have to admit. Plus when your 17-18-19 buying your own tickets the cheapest ones in the 500 section no ball is going that high so you don't need one. Then when your in your 20's and have a little more drinking money and hanging out with friends barley paying attention to the game, brining a glove to the game is a bad idea. Cuz 1] your buddies are gonna clown on you. 2] your 3-4 millers in thinking phone wallet keys credit card the essentials where are they? where are we going after the game adding a glove into the mix of one more thing to worry about is something you don't need. and 3] that glove is the glove you played catch with your dad with, won little league championships with, lost little league championships with, went 1-21 with, was a Christmas gift from your uncle. Has become more sentimental over the years that you'll be devastated if you lose. So it's time to put it on the shelf.
So wearing a glove to a game does have a shelf life but comes back eventually when you're brining your own kid with the too big of a hat and too big of a jersey.
so in short. Do what ever you want bring it don't chances are the ball is not going to land by you anyway. Heck the only ball I caught was when I was 23 on my first official date with my GF and I didn't even catch it jumped on that thing like it was a live grenade. What you really have to be afraid of is what happens when you catch a ball. My biggest fear when going to a game and sitting in a foul ball heavy area is that. You been waiting for years to catch a ball the boy hood dream that you've been chasing for years. It's all going to end right here right now years of being to short being in the wrong spot will come to an end when that ball finally lands in your hands. But you have to give it to some snot noise kid whose at his 3rd game ever in his life, and you've been bringing your glove to the games for years in hopes of catching a ball so you can be happy. But have to give it up to a kid who hasn't suffered long enough to appreciate getting a ball.
